Abstract: Autonomous driving is becoming a key research area in the automotive field, with several companies and research institutions working on the problem. In this talk we describe how to build from scratch a deep learning architecture to drive a car autonomously inside a simulated city environment. We give an overview about the problem and about current approaches used to tackle it. Then, we show how it is possible to build and train a simple neural network capable of autonomous driving in a virtual environment, using modern deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Keras/tensorflow, ...). We also describe how to interact with the open-source simulator that we used in our experiments.
