Title: Python on IoT devices thanks to Mbed Linux OS
Duration: 45 (includes Q&A)
Q&A Session: 15
Language: en
Type: Talk

Abstract: Arm Mbed Linux OS (MBL) is a free, open-source IoT operating system based on the embedded Linux Yocto Project. It is designed for Cortex-A devices, which can run multiple, complex applications and perform edge computing.

MBL combines the robustness of Linux with the flexibility of OCI containers in order to provide a secure platform which gives the developer the freedom and the focus to develop their own IoT applications.

With these features, MBL enables virtually every software developer to write IoT applications. You don't need to be an expert with C, C++ and embedded development. It doesn't matter if you have Django/Flask experience or you've written node.js applications, you can use your own very skills to write IoT applications too, doing leverage on the existent ecosystem you are already using.

The talk will give a generic overview of the MBL project, highlighting interesting features for a software developer. At the end a use case will be shown using Python.
The talk is intended for any audience: software developers of any kind at any level, IoT enthusiasts and anyone with interest in the project.

MBL is currently in developer preview and it will be soon (hopefully before Pycon X) released fully open source.
