Title: Doing data science in the real world- Not the usual fairy tale !
Duration: 45 (includes Q&A)
Q&A Session: 15
Language: en
Type: Talk
Abstract: Data Science is regarded the sexiest job of the 21st century and is already making waves across all sectors in industries. Interestingly, there are lots of online information and tools to get a good introduction to begin with. However, most of these resources do not prepare prospective data scientists for real world messier problems. Building machine learning models is only a piece in a complex system.
This talk is targeted at Data Science and Machine Learning enthusiasts who want to understand how real data science projects look like. The aim is to demystify the myth that surrounds working as a data scientist, highlight the challenges faced as well the opportunities that follow. From the talk, the audience will also learn key concepts that would teach them how to manage real life data analysis.
In the end, the audience will -know how to describe a perfect data science experience -Understand a typical data science workflow using a real world example -Identify the strengths and weaknesses in experimental designs -Highlight possible pitfalls when assembling data and how to overcome them -Learn how to chain multiple machine learning algorithms together in a data science pipeline -Identify common pitfalls when presenting results and the importance of storytelling -Get an holistic view into a day in the life of a data scientist.
