Title: Work smarter, not harder: task automation with Pyinvoke
Duration: 45 (includes Q&A)
Q&A Session: 15
Language: en
Type: Talk
Abstract: The face when you have an open source project that’s a mix of Python and Go but you ask contributors to install Ruby as the first step in the “getting started” document... Something is wrong.
Making things repeatable and automate as many tasks as possible is a key concept in Software Development but implementing a toolchain capable to work on multiple platforms, producing the same results in an engineer's laptop as in the Continuous Integration system is hard.
Pyinvoke is effective, concise and self contained but most importantly, it works as you would expect from a Python tool, which -let me say- is very important if you are a Python dev.
During the talk we’ll see what Pyinvoke can do and we’ll share some lessons painfully learned about automating the right things with the right tools.
